TSX® White Paper

The increased prevalence of peri-implantitis and the demand for immediacy protocols were the two main rationales behind ZimVie’s new TSX Implant design.

When developing the TSX, engineers focused on creating an aggressive thread profile with wider thread crests. Consequently, these threads cut deeper into the osteotomy wall compared to traditional Tapered Screw-Vent® (TSV®) Implants. As a result, this design achieves enhanced initial engagement with the surrounding bone, delivering high primary stability. Furthermore, it improves apical stability after immediate placement in fresh extraction sockets.

However, careful adjustments were made to ensure the threads are not excessively aggressive. Specifically, overly aggressive threads can turn an implant into a self-driving unit. Therefore, such implants tend to shift off-axis during placement, which significantly increases the risk of positioning the fixture too close to the buccal or lingual walls.
